Thanks for that sweet DIY info skym. I have a couple spare RB25 turbos sitting here and i might just try this myself on one of them. Is it even possible to buy a rebuild kit for a RB25 turbo? I was in contact with a shop that can aparently rebuild OEM turbos, but that was days ago now and he hasnt called me back.. Doesnt seem promising. Might as well just try to rebuild one of mine and if it doesnt work then ill just send another one out.

He didn't balance the assembly, which is important.

Read the article on this turbo rebuilders website, to see why it's important to balance turbo -

http://www.turbo.co.nz/alltech/service.php?Page=Turbo

They rebuild stock turbo's, as can see the clean looking Nissan compressor housing in link below -

http://www.turbo.co.nz/alltech/Service.php

The stock CHRA (middle part of turbo) is unrepairable according to more than one turbo rebuilder. They said something to do with removing ceramic exhaust wheel that can shatter when you try to remove it.

They normally fit a non ballbearing Garrett TB03 CHRA with upgraded wheels in machined stock compressor, exhaust housings.

I have heard about some on SAU using GT2871R CHRA + wheels in bored out (machined on lath to fit bigger wheels) stock RB25DET turbo housings. But I think it was exhaust housing only that was machined, so it bolt's onto stock exhaust manifold. But having a small exhaust housing A/R with bigger compressor wheel, compressor housing can make turbo surge. It's easier these days to buy a GT2871R turbo, as they can bolt on with oil, water feed mods, exhaust housing, swing gate assembly.
