Default Mcfly's New 20B Cosmo

Well I always toyed with the idea of getting a rotary and I finally did it about 2 weeks go. The price was right so I figured why not. It's a little more luxurious then the GTR and an auto transmission but i'm getting old now so it's a good grandpa car. The 20b is supposed to have rb26 like power so hopefully it isn't too slow.

At the moment I don't have any plans for mods but we all know how that can change. I will update the thread when it arrives here in Vancouver.

As of now it' a pretty simple list

wheels, lowering springs, boost gauge and a turbo timer.

They're actually a very good looking car and I'm pretty sure you won't run into another on at a stop light. Be aware of the apex seals!

That is lovely. Very very clean too! I remember in a book I read about the develop of the RX-7, they had a small section about the Eunos Cosmo. From what they wrote, the 13B Cosmo had 230bhp and the 20B had 300bhp and just under 300lb/ft. So you should be happy out at that. Only downside is, I reckon it would be quite thirsty :/

Anyway, well wear with her

Congrats on your new ride. Really happy to see that another Cosmo has been saved from the junkyard.

I think you will like this car. Especially at high speeds, its really hard to resist stepping on the gas more. Hope to see more pics of your ride in Vancouver.

As some have pointed out, the gas consumption is definitely not the best. (far from it actually and it requires premium.. although Japan's octane is nearly 100 94 is the highest octane we can get in Vancouver). Not to mention that it is a 85L tank... it is really pay2play.

If anyone would like a good read on the Cosmo it was featured on Motortrend recently

Nice ! That's exciting.

I noticed that when I picked up my car
there was a stench in the interior likely from the long ferry ride from Japan. (As it wasn't there before it was shipped )
And had to use ozone to rid the odour. Hopefully yours will be ok

Keep us posted

Cosmo is road legal. No air care required which was a nice surprise

yay~
Pics!

yah no air care for the first year for newly imported cars. you will need to pass aircare in 2014 or you can wait until air care program is phased out.

I havent spoken to my mechanic yet but the importer i dealt with (who also happened to be a mechanic) told me that Cosmo will likely not pass air care... we'll see..

and My Cosmo is actually in the shop right now.. ><
i guess its raining these days so hopefully it will be back before the sun is back

Replaced the AC belt today. Took two tries to find the right size but found a Dayco AP35 13C950 fits. Ideally you would want about a 940 or 945 but 950mm works ok.

I desperately need new speakers as the rears are blown, so that will be the next project.

Also considering buying some N18 BC Racing coilovers as the stock stuff is pretty mushy(turns out the car had no lowering springs, just saggy springs)

Yeah those ones, I likely wont pull the trigger.
I filled up for the first time today since i started tracking the fuel economy. 204 KM with a 14 mpg average. 80% city.

Hopefully that improves a bit

nice looking Cosmo.
it looks very similar to mine w the bbs wheels.
except i think the color is cobalt grey in this year's cosmo and mine is silverstone metallic

i usually just drive hwy and try to avoid the city as the mileage is just not going to be good....

maybe you did already but perhaps check the stock air filter? maybe its not breathing well

i found mine to be really dirty after the long cargo ship ride.

Well The BC Racing coilovers have been ordered. They will take a while to show up.

I also ordered some 6.5" speakers for up front and some new 2 ohm 6x9's for the rear.

I attached a photo of the drivers side front speaker. Very ugly.
