Default HICAS Light, Low Voltage, and Jerky Steering

Per the title, my HICAS Light is either flickering or staying on, the DIN meter reads around 12V while driving, and the steering is jerky as all hell. I'm thinking my alternator has crapped out. Sound like a valid diagnosis, or am I crazy? Anything else I should be checking before charging the battery and replacing the alternator? Thanks in advance.

might be too late but I would check the diagnostics on the hicas ecu before buying any parts.

Problem is already solved. In short, the alternator had crapped out. Free junkyard replacement part and an hour = good as new. Thanks anyway. I was starting to wonder I was the only one reading or posting any more.
