hhmmm dunno what to say man, tbh i didnt even use liquor on mine lol. but just in my line of work alcohol prep raises the level of adhesion. what are the temps in bc right now? cuz the cold makes it hard for adhesives to adhere to their intended bonding surface. if temps are an issue, try bringing it into the house (ie the lower dash panel and the tt itself which im assuming u can disconnect from the harness) this was all feasible on my bnr32. good luck

I sanded lightly with 220 grit, cleaned with methyl hydrate, let dry, then heat up the area slightly (warm-hot like 60-70degrees) then stuck a double-sided tape on the piece, then let it sit for 10 min, then peeled the protector then stuck my gauge (cleaned and sanded lightly also for better adhesion).

Stuck and has not moved yet.

a quick question though, why would you mount something there (especially a gauge)

it's kind of out of the way of everything, and you definitely can't monitor it while driving safely.

seeing as you don't even need a turbo timer it sounds like a great place for it :p

4 skylines, 5 different tapes, cleaned it with different product. nothing held...
but.
2 screws did. small, tiny screws.
i pulled apart my turbo timer. stuck the top piece where i wanted it. drilled 2 holes with my smallest drill bit, and found tiny screws to match. then a dab from a hot glue gun so the metal screws dont touch the board. put the turbo timer back together.. and voila. hasn't moved since.

im not really sure why i put gauge in the title when its just a turbo timer

and yea you dont need one but i like to have one if it may help my petite lil turbo last a little bit longer

His thread title stuck to me better than the "turbo timer" bit.

Yeah that'd be an ok place for it, but have you considered hiding it behind the ashtray by cutting the back?

Most people don't smoke in their cars so it should be fine for future sales/uses too.

I don't like drilling things into these dashes. Expensive to return back to original.

My car came with one, I never use it.

For street use, its just a recipe for burning excess fuel.

when you go for a long drive over say 20 mins its good to let it cool down..if my car is bone stock then i wouldnt have one but its good to let it settle after throwing .8 bar boost at it

It's a water and oil cooled turbo. You don't need one but you are welcome to use one.

If you had just an oil cooled turbo you might be wise to pay attention before shutting down the engine but even then the chances of coking up a turbo with synthetic oils is slim under the most extreme circumstances.

Mine is in the ashtray. It's win.

And I use mine because I don't see why not... especially when it's for longer trips and I'm ragging on it.

I actually get more use out of it for warming up my car. Run out, start it, set the timer to 10 minutes, run inside... eat a bowl of cereal and brush my teeth. Go outside, car is warmed up and ready to rip.

Next up; remote start.

Yea its not like they cost 300 bucks, thats what i do too...gas is not an issue for me cuz my car is the only thing i spend money on :P

maybe i will do it in the ashtray, along with my boost controller...
