Dual catch tank is often seen on RB racecars, but without understanding of how it works. This dual catch tank setup allows oil to be returned to sump. Also is recirculated into intake instead of vented to atmosphere on pro racecars.

I like it, they are actually using a vacuum source to evacuate the crank case. I cant stand the people you just stick two valve cover hoses to a tank and call it a day.
Intake source +1
good find
I do like the simplicity of the r34 nismo catch tank. Single tank setup with drain and intake hose.
Gibson R32GTR, Mines R34GTR are cars I have seen this dual catch tank setup on.
This dual catchtank setup is how I'm going to set it up on my car's engine. Now to figure out where the drain catch can came from. Or is it a custom catchcan.

So the first tank inline has a drain and the second is just a simple catch can ?
Yes. First tank drains to the sump. Second tank intercepts any leftover oil in blowby gas and only air is recirculated into intake infront of turbo.
Update...
This is the enginebay from ex RICOH GTS-R racecar -

Note the same 2x catchcan setup and can just see return fitting for hose under 1st catch can / bottle.

Different styles of the same setup.

The whole point is to simply intercept the feed PRIOR to the PCV valve, regardless of how many times you do it, so I am sure there are many creative ways to accomplish this.
Along with Mine's Baffles, I am simply going to run either a Nismo Oil Separator or another type of 3-port baffled catch can with drain combined with an air Tool Filter (clear) right before the PCV so that I can monitor the efficiency of the system as others have done.

Alot of Mustang guys are turning Air Tool Filters into Oil Separators on their own, but like I said, it will be my secondary in-line 'inspectable maintenance point' just before the PCV....goes for anywhere from $25/each to as much as $100 depending on where you get them.

I just picked up a nice Oil Separator Kit w/drain from Yahoo Auctions. A brand new custom kit made in Japan by some shop that resells them on Yahoo Auctions.... that attempts to do what the Nismo kit does, but for less than half the price (Nismo kit is about $525 USD Shipped from RHDjapan). Started out as 14.5k JPY + fees and shipping, making it just over $200 USD. It's nearly the size of a pop can and is nicely built from the look of it.
I am going to run this as the Primary, then a clear unit as I posted above just before I feed the line back into the PCV so that I can monitor the efficiency of the system. If needed, I will run a secondary catch can/tank if the clear unit fills too quickly.

why do you need a vacuum source? The crank case builds up positive pressure that will push the vapours out no? I just ran a hose from one of my valve covers to the catch can then vented the other port to atmosphere.
Allan74, do you have a link to that catchcan setup on Yahoo Auctions???
Looks like the same catchcan set on the RB20DET in my first post.
Another interesting catchtank setup on SAU forum (blue car with RB25DET) -

Quick question, when you want to drain your oil back into the pan (like in the op), do you need a one way check valve or something before the fitting on the motor? I see something in the diagram posted but I'm not sure if its a check valve or just something else.
