no it still has the oem gtr suspension on it. I guess with all the boosting it makes the rear sink a little.
DrMango
02-04-2010, 09:34 AM
Its caused by raw power! You have plans to update the suspension soon? Looks like a good clean car. How is the interior?
Kyle
natetheguy
02-04-2010, 09:44 AM
interior is good. i have that common dash bubble. seats are in great shape with no rips.
I want to throw on a set of tein's either SS or flex but it all comes down to money and i'm not working at the moment.
DrMango
02-04-2010, 10:48 AM
yeah I know how that goes. Lots of plans, little money. Important things come first and at the end of the day, your suspension is still mint I bet
Kyle

yea the suspension is still tight and no leaks which is awesome for 16 year old struts.

Fix up your intake manifold and it'll look really good
natetheguy

the pump looked the exact same size. this one still had the hicas on it.
DrMango
02-07-2010, 10:16 AM
OK. So what was the advantage to getting an R33 P/S pump, just availability?
Kyle
Rapier46
02-07-2010, 10:23 AM
probably the only thing he had available to him, that was reasonably price.
i sold my ps pump for $60 hahah
natetheguy
02-07-2010, 02:47 PM
ya i bought a pump from ztune and instructed to send it to me in kelowna, but it had been a few days and had to remind them of the order, which they finally sent but to my cochrane address. it would have taken over two weeks to get another pump from them. Luckly i found one just north of vernon at redline recreation
DrMango
02-07-2010, 03:47 PM
So a good recomendation for Ztune hey lol.
Hope you didnt get raped too bad on that deal because of someone elses mistake. Same thing happened to me a few months ago. Ordered my ACL bearings and they sent them to the wrong address. Sucks when people dont pay attention to clear directions for shipping

Well to be fair this is the first problem I've had with ztune. Every other time has been great sales and service.
DrMango
02-07-2010, 09:56 PM
Hope you have better luck in the future orders you make so they can make up for this little mistake. Im sure no hard feelings. I have no experience with them yet but I do hear a lot of good response

So i've been working on getting a plate welded into my twin turbo charge pipe and I thought I would share a few pictures of what i'm doing.
here is the pipe in the current state
http://gtrpwr.com/picture.php?albumid=17&pictureid=75
It's nice and clean inside due to good oem turbo's
http://gtrpwr.com/picture.php?albumid=17&pictureid=76
the template I cut out to help the welder out
http://gtrpwr.com/picture.php?albumid=17&pictureid=77
what it looks like when the template is in the pipe

I am going to take the pipe to the welder hopefully in a couple of days and I'll give an update when it's done.

Update on the pipe. got it back from the shop and they did an okay job but was a little messy in spots. I had to take a screwdriver and chip away any wash left over so it wouldn't go back into my turbo.

Doesnt even look like propper penetration at the neck in a few spots..

DrMango
02-13-2010, 10:57 AM
Yeah but its a matter of pride when you show a guy the mods you had done. Showing people that pipe will make him cringe every time someone looks at those welds. Thats my opinion anyways
Looks like I can even see vise marks they left in the pipe that would have been very easy to take out. Im seeing this in the first pic. Maybe its something else.
Im not a ticketed welder yet but I wouldnt be able to take pride in laying that pass. Thats why Im kind of picking at this job.

oh yeah, youd thing a licenced welder would do it good enough to take pride in it right? i know thats how i am with my work. it literally looks like an amature did that. a real tech should be able to do that really well.
DrMango
02-13-2010, 12:57 PM
A welder of any type should be able to lay a clean pass with no issues and no cleanup needed. I dont want to hack on poor nates pipe anymore. I voiced my opinion. Sorry to see someone not satistied with a weld because its a trade where if its not up to spec, you just break out the grinder and do it again. Really easy to spend the extra 30 minutes and do another pass until its satisfactory

holy shit i laughed out loud when you asked if a blind guy did the welds, hit it with a dremel and smooth it up for sure!

There is always going to be some clean up needed after you lay a bead down,it's called spatter and it get everywhere.
And as far as aluminum weld's go that weld look's fused from the pics he may have been moving a bit quickly but nothing to be ashamed of. ever try to weld a 20 year old piece of cast aluminum? lol not easy

Man I know what spatter is..It could have been a lot cleaner welds, especially considering he did it in a vise. Im not talking about, and never did mention spatter. Im talking about the fact that it looks like the welding was done by 4 different people. Every 5 inches the bead width/high changes and the outside wasnt even half my issue. Look at the second inside shot on the right side. There's popcorn everywhere but where he needed a bead.
Its obvious that someone higher up at that welding shop OK'd that work and thats the worst part
Im not going to post anymore about this topic in poor nates build thread, its just soiling the whole thing. I was just voicing my opinion as an apprentice welder

I got my Greddy Full Auto Turbo Timer II in the mail today so I thought I would start working on the install. I wanted to put the remote display unit in a good location and not stuck to my dash somewhere like a ricer.
Since my clock wasn't working anyways I thought I might as well use up the space, so I tore the clock out and stripped it of it's case

http://gtrpwr.com/picture.php?albumid=20&pictureid=87
the new remote display unit
http://gtrpwr.com/picture.php?albumid=20&pictureid=88
I decided to try and get the display unit to fit in the old clock case, which worked after a bit of dremeling. Since the unit wouldn't quite fit in the case I put a couple screws through the plastic to lock it in place.
http://gtrpwr.com/picture.php?albumid=20&pictureid=89
after playing with it more and aligning it I finally got it in and looking great.

just finished installing some TEIN S-tech springs. since the oem springs were quite sunk in the back it didn't change the height of the rear, but the fronts are definitely matching the back now.
