Hello,
I was just wondering what everyone here uses as break-in oil on there rb26 motors. Everyone seems to say to run cheap oil, but what brand and viscosity?
Thanks

Rebuilding my RB myself, any advice? - GTRPWR Forums
Good info covered in that thread a few posts down. Use crappy oil and 10w30 seems to be the oil to use. Cheaper is fine. I went with a 5 gallon pail of Penzoil 10w30 from Auto value for $74. I found a $50 pail at Partsource of "turbo" brand oil.

anything non senthetic or even semi synthetic.
so a nice cheap oil works great since you go through so much of it. It also lets the parts seat themselves.

Honestly what I did was just spring for the 5 gallon of the cheap stuff. Im going to be doing 5 or 6 oil changes in the first 1000 kms
30kms filter too
150kms
400kms filter too
650kms
1000kms filter too
To do it right you will need a lot of oil anyways. A 5 gallon pail is 19~ liters and you will need around 5 L per change which means one pail of any cheap oil will pretty much do your break in for $50. Around $20 for the 3 filters you will need. I would get a really good fine particle filter for the first change to catch the small shit and then go to the basic cheapo filters for the rest of break in
