Hey guys i just installed a new ApexI Electronic oil pressure gauge and sensor and i want to know if my pressure when the car is warm is to low?
when it starts cold its above 1000 kpa
when its warmed up and idling its at 400 kpa
when i rev it it goes up to above 1000 kpa
i haven't been able to drive it as its parked for the winter, but i want to see if this is fine or should i be expecting to be doing an oil pump.
thanks
Steve

thats VERY low... to even see below half a bar (1 bar = 1000kpa) is retarded low...stop turning that car on and time for an oil pump im afraid.

not totally true. your guage is only measuring the oil's resistance, and in this case the oil must be quite thin. what type/weight of oil are you running?
less resistance equals more flow

I am running Royal purple 10-30 or 10-40 i cant remember i believe its 10-30. i plan on doing an oil change shortly with RP 10-40.

I would use 40 minimum man.

5w50 or 10w50 seems to be best in my engine for summer use

well ok, do an oil change .. i ran 5w50 motul in mine.. and see what the pressure says after the oil change. but i still maintain thats REALLY low.

400 kpa = 4 bar~
Your oil pressure is high if anything for hot idle.
same with 1000kpa, thats 10 bars of oil pressure.
My stack shows me a max of 9 when cold with a JUN pump.

Sorry i dont think its 4 bar, i believe its just 400 its under 1 bar.

Did you not read my post
400kpa = 4 bar
100.325 kpa = 1 atmosphere
1 atmosphere is 1 bar
give or take

Ok well i hope thats the case but i doubt it.
here is a link to the gauge.

Please go here and quit posting 'doubt'.
1 BAR = 100 kPa
http://www.sensorsone.co.uk/pressure-units-conversion.html (http://www.sensorsone.co.uk/pressure-units-conversion.html)
Your gauge is CLEARLY marked DIGIT x 100 kPa....therefore is a 10 BAR Gauge.

You have that gauge and it reads @ 4 when full running temp and idle? I would say that means 400 kPa which like McFly said is 4 bar. That is better then my car at idle on the stock gauge in kg/cm2(basically same as kPa)
Allan is on the right track. Facts don't lie

o..m.. g.. such a tool.. lol, off by a factor of 10! haha, you guys are totally right... its 100kpa = 1 bar.. so then ya, these dudes are rightl, for idle =400kpa that sounds spot on mint... 10bar.. few people see that high pressure.. but sounds ok. maybe a touch high.

It's just so hard to get 'tone of voice' across in a post......you know how it is ;)

Pressure conversion fail.
1000kpa is higher then the relief spring should let.
