Hey guys I have my new OEM rings to go on my OEM pistons. They are STD size rings and pistons as I didnt need the bore honed. He just ran the hone through for a good cross hatch.

1. Do I need to check the rings for the gap, or would they just be ready to go at their current gap and no trimming needed?

2. Is there an up on OEM rings? I have been reading that there is typically a dot or writting indicating up on the ring. I see 2 letters on the rings. There is an "s" and an "r". Safe to assume that is indicating up?

Thanks

should be 2 ductile iron, 2 thin oil control and one wavy oil control.

two top rings will have marks up. I would check ring gaps.
You must also space the gaps around the pistons properly. page en106 in gtr manual. adobe page 123

Ive been installing the oil scrapper rings now and they are pretty tight fit to get the 3rd ring in that groove. Is the normal? the other 2 compression rings are nice fit with the feeler gauge readings

One last question.

Out of the box brand new, the top compression ring came in at .38mm and the manual states that the gaps need to be .24-.34mm. Is that a big deal to be that much over? Didn't have the bore honed or anything. He just ran it through for a cross hatch. Measured bore and its like 77.89 mm on my calipers
