View Full Version : Sanding a bumper help

Ok so im sanding down mt bumper and wondering if theres a better way than what im doing.

I have 1000grit paper and im wetsanding it down.

any ideas?

Stripping it ? or prepping for paint ?

underneath the blue color it is now, its white

so i just wanna strip the blue off to match my car until i get the whole car done

start with a lower grit and work yourself up. it'll take forever to strip the blue off. maybe google it for solid info

you would be better off spraying it with some spray paint

What material is the bumper made out of? Are you priming it, painting it, or both? And what kind of paint will you be using?

its fiberglass, but i just want to sand it down because its white underneath and then when i can afford to get the car repainted ill get it all done so it matches perfectly

The white underneath may just be a Gel Coat ontop of the fiberglass. If you want to revert back to white, just sand the blue down with 400 grit and spray bomb it white for a quick fix. Should make it decent enough until you get it painted. I wouldn't recommend you even bother with clearcoat as the rattle can stuff is less than adequate. Be sure to let us know when you want to do it right ;) we also offer a pick-up and delivery service if driving to Kelowna isn't your idea of a good weekend.

Thanks man, ill do that! yea im pretty sure it is a gelcoat, it has that look. I'll try that then and see how it works out! PM me your prices on paint man, i always enjoy an excuse to take a roadtrip :D
