Has all the Garrett equivalents to HKS turbo's.

would a medium size twin scroll type turbo be comparable to a twin set up or just a waste of time?,I really like the way a single top mount look's in the engine bay but am not interested in huge power that the large frame turbo's produce. When I finaly build a GTR I would like to see in the neighbour hood of 500whp

for sub 600 wheel you want to stay twins. The turbo choices on the market just suit our engines much better with two.
But for anything above 600hp single is both cheaper, easier, more efficient and better.

I see, well maybe I will have changed my mind I supose I should drive on before I worry about this though lol

And you can even go a little bit over this. Look at the M Speed demo car, they did very well with a RB28 and a twins setup. http://www.mspeed.jp/democar.html

Application is also a pretty big factor.
People need to stop and ask themselves WHERE they will be driving their cars most.
I find it hard to believe that more people are not building a 'Mines-R34-Type' project - The BIG Cam/Small Turbo 'response' build........
I was going to do a single conversion, but decided to get another couple years out of a twin setup and try just that type of build. I will be using tiny little Nismo-RS580 Turbos with 10.5-10.8 lift cams with 264 Duration and a completely built head.
I don't want to use Turbos as a band-aid for a shitty motor build........I want to use them as 'icing on the cake' ....so to speak.
...your opinions will vary...
Allan
Application does play a role.
Experienced a similar configuration to what you have described and didn't see fullboost until 4000rpm, but pulled similar to a stockish Bigblock V8 at peak hp.
Mines aim for power, torque under peak hp. Not just peak hp. It's what I've been doing with my car, hence the 360hp goal but wide powerband.
HKS 25/30 turbo's and Mines intake 260 duration, exhaust 252 duration cams work together to give a good powerband. Good for over 536awhp (over 700hp at engine) when you lean on them (boost up) with HKS F-CON Pro (MAP setup).

I think currently, my car makes FULL BOOST by 4000 RPM starting in 1st gear and by 3rd or 4th, I can make full boost under 3600 RPM. Unfortunately, I can not comment on what is done to my motor, as I have no idea, but this is running a bone-stock ECU and twins @ .9 BAR boost max and was much faster/quicker/harder pulling than the other 2 GTRs I drive before purchasing it, all with similar boost levels.
The car is said to be runnning BCNR33 N1 Turbines, which physically look identical to OEM ceramics, without the 'flat ID plate' on the outlet like all other N1 and steel wheel turbines have.
As far as CAMs go, I have no idea if the car has aftermarket or OEM still, but with it's Impul 'Tuned' ECU that came in it from Japan, it made more HP/TQ than any other running the boost levels that I was running on the Dyno that I tested on to get my baseline when I first purchased the car. 2 ECU changes later and I am back to running stock, just to keep driving it, with boost limited a bit to be safe, as I am too lazy to install my AEM EMS....lol
Comparing to what I am running right now, my plans should 'net me decent gains with my new motor.
Right now, my car is a great street car and has a somewhat 'driveable' powerband......and I am almost happy with it. I would just like more power and that is what the new engine etc will bring me next year.
I just figure, If I can get decent performance like this by mistake with a completely dangerous setup on a stock ECU, imagine what I could accomplish with some planning/tuning ;) ....lol
Cheers,
Allan
Bigger turbo's can make car feel quicker.
The stock RB26 runs a higher duration cam on intake side, lower duration on exhaust side which supposedly helps with low to mid range torque.
Stock camshaft specs -

Tomei mentions it here with Type A, B Poncams -

Cams with 260 duration on intake, exhaust create that lump in the idle or can get a similar lump at idle via camgears with stock cams. You'll know if engine has cams by the lump in idle.
They could be rebuilt stock turbo's using stock housings. From a dynochart I've seen, R33 N1 turbo's can produce 445ps with basic breathing mods. R34 N1 turbo's produce 455ps with the same basic breathing mods.
GTR's or any Nissan is better when you lighten them for race use. GTR feels like a GTS-T with more hp and grip (power to weight).
A good example is in this videoclip, where the lighter Falken N1 R32GTR is faster than stock N1 R32GTR -

Mines famous demo car used huge cams, or so goes the word on the street from those who have seen the car in person. Reputable source too.
Mines "shelf" builds don't match the video car.

:p
Easy way around all of this. borg warner s483 and huge cams.
high 600's on pump gas.
There's alot of rumours about what the Mines R34GTR demo car has in terms of mods.
I've heard Mines democar has aggressive ignition timing and runs on racegas, which explains it's aggressive nature. I believe the specs Mines have on their website, by the way the car accelerates. The good pickup down low but lacks pickup at topend which matches the 260 intake, 252 duration cam specs and shorter gearing, which is not mentioned.
Also look up AmeriKiwi on GTROC forum in UK. His R34GTR Nur produced roughly around 705hp at engine with the same HKS 35/30 turbo's, Mines 260 intake, 252 duration cams, 4.11 R33GTR Vspec diffhead's, etc. Has a dynochart on GTROC forum. I think was done on 98 octane gas, not racegas.
Here's AmeriKiwi's Nur that he sold a while ago -

Don't Mine's also have 3 or 4 different (near identical) "Time Attack R34s"....with only 1 of them being the True Monster that is 'tested and benchmarked' with the others being just Show Cars ?
I think there is more than one.
The Mines R34GTR democar in above link (Mcfly's post) is based on a N1 spec R34GTR (factory built endurance racecar), so has no aircon (heater only), etc (slightly lighter chassis) and has engine gearbox, transfercase, diffhead oilcoolers, etc. Mines made N1 R34GTR lighter via carbon trunk lid, rear wing, etc.
