Same idea as Mcfly's thread on valve springs, except rods this time. What companies are making them, and who likes what. Perhaps include beam style (H, I, A) and any other features such as Annular Groves, FPO (force feed oiling), and Oil Shed Coatings offered by Carrillo.
I don't know anything about anything :p so someone else can start.

Well I like Carrillo's.
I currently have these in my engine and have big things planned for them.
PRO-H
DA-RB2>-64783S
3/8 CARR bolts
length 121.5mm
pin end width 21.84mm
big end width 21.77mm
big end bore 51.003mm
21mm pin
Weight in grams
TOTAL/ROTATE/RECIP
507 / 371 / 136
Now i have zero complaints. They came absolutely perfect as to be expected from Carrillo. They were packaged nice and they came with all instructions and loctite. Believe it or not they were within .05g out of the box too.
I hate doing this but the work to copy and paste it would be terrible. This product info page is just awesome when looking for rods.

I had no idea that much went into rod design.

These are obviously the Rods I have. They were a perfectly matched set of 6, all labeled on each individual rod box (bog & small ends), inside the main box.
These are the HEAVIEST Off-The-Shelf Connecting Rods available for an RB26DETT application, at 610 grs total weight.
I have since upgraded my Bolts/Fasteners to ARP 3.5 (from ARP2000) and in doing so, I believe these to be the best OFF-THE-SHELF rods for an RB26 hands down.
These have been proven to make in excess of 275 HP per Rod as well as 9,500+ RPM with the ARP2000 Fasteners in 4G63 applications, where the Rod is much longer (6.738"/171.15mm, so approx 50mm longer than RB26 Rods).

ARP2000 OR ARP L19 ROD BOLTS
Given the choices pick the ARP2000 Studs. L19 is only good for the tear down race motors.

Brian Crower also makes a set, he has two different types. Check his website.
My machinst says Carrillo's are the best but he also said he would only use them if he was going for some type of world record (fastest car, most whp, etc....) He then told me he usually uses Eagle's and they seem to hold up. Not many GTR guys seem to use them (there's a few on gtrcanada and gtrpwr), but tons of Mitsubishi and Supra guys use them. There's a few Supra guys doing 900-1000whp on Eagles.
Besides Brian Crower, and whats already listed, theres Crower (father of Brain Crower), Tomei (overpriced), Cosworth, HKS, Nismo, etc....

I was originally looking at Carrillo, but its looking like I might go Eagle. My builder seems very confident in them, actually I think him or one of the guys uses them in their own car (for what what thats worth). The Eagle website rates their rods for 1500HP, although I find it odd seeing a company offer a specific HP rating.

I thought cosworth stopped making rods for rb

Rods can't be given a specific x hp number. That's just impossible with all the variables around. Eagles are not necessarily a bad rod but their manufacturing and checks are said to be sub par. Oval ends, rods out many grams over a set. Then again those can all be fixed for a price. When you buy a rod such as carrillo, jun, manley you know they are going to come spot on from the factory.

Ya thats why I found it odd seeing an actual value listed for power. Regardless of what I purchase the machine shop will be balancing everything anyway. I've heard other people mention the oval ends, thats a bit troubling but hey, eagle and tomei rods are the same thing right :p

My machinist is fixing the eagle rods as we speak. They aren't that bad like mcfly said, but when you buy them you have to check them forsure but then again if you buy quality rods you should check them too. On every part of a build you can always buy better (even if you think you have the best there is always better), you have to find a happy medium where your comfortable.

On a slightly side note
RB30DET___53mm___21mm__152.5mm__550______3/8
152.5? Is that accurate?
According to their website it is http://www.spoolimports.com/content/SPOOLCONRODSSPECIFICATIONSPAGE.asp
wat are your thought on the cosworth rods? ... i cant seem to find any technical data on them. other than the bolts are good for 260 000 psi

I'm using the eagle H-beams as pictured above.
I balanced them (was free with balancing the crank) and they removed under a gram of material from each end of each rod. They weren't perfect but they were pretty close.
All the big ends were fine but the small ends weren't finish-fit to the pins and all had to be machined a few tenths of a thou to be perfect.
for $300 though, what do you want. I am not complaining and plan on reusing them in my current build. They went 40,000KM problem free.
Since RB's are such a small displacemnt 6cyl I don't think they're really hard on rods like big cube and 4cyl motors are. If my engine makes 150hp per rod I'm going to be THRILLED.

you bought rods for 300....?
I disagree with your small displacement = easier work for rods theory. Small displacement usually means you rev higher which in turn is much more difficult on the rods then the compressive forces.

One advantage though is a small bore engine is less Det. Prone on pump fuel so that inturn is easier on rod brgings.

I bought pistons AND rods for $900.
I figured the pistons were $600 of that.
They came complete with ARP 2000 hardware, etc.
I think I got a good deal :D

No shit you get a good deal.
I can't really complain, as my first attempt at buying Rods & Pistons came in pretty good as well.
The seller made a mistake on the Ebay listing and priced it for a 4cyl rather than a 6cyl........AND HE HONOURED THE PRICE ;)
I paid $750 CAD/Shipped for RB26 Eagle Rods (with ARP2000 fasteners) and CP 87mm Pistons, then sold the Rods for $500 to another GTRC Member in BC and kept the pistons, as they are the ones I still have today.
Everything was legit, as it was shipped (well, drop-shipped) from Titan Motorsports in Florida.
I have run into SOOO MANY Deals similar, that combined with my regular 'thriftiness', has saved me thousands.
Sometimes it pays (literally) to be in the right place at the right time.
If there is someone on the fourm that has gotten a BETTER deal than that, I would love to hear about it.
On second thought, I will make a 'Best Deal Ever' thread and see what people have to say.
