I always liked your rim/tire combo

Me too, which is why I was soo sad to find out that they are 18x9.5's instead of 18x10's....the PIMP factor just got cut in half for that alone ! ...lol

I don'tknow if its just dirt, but the paint looks like it fades from dark around the bumpers to really bright on your door. It looks awesome with the blacked out rims!

Don't worry, it looks much worse in person...hehe

Like I have said before, I am building the motor itself, TO HANDLE 1,000+ HP and 9,500 RPM.....although it will most likely never see that. I just want a safe/strong build and I am prepared to spend the cash to get it done - ONCE.
Being that I am staying Low Mount Twin Turbo, the most I could possibly hope for is probably somewhere in the 650-700 WHP range with GT2871's, or perhaps somewhere close to 600 WHP with GT2860R-5's.

It's looking like it's gonna be a long build...lol

Other stuff that is being re-used/staying on the car is:
- Veilside 3.5" Full Titanium Exhaust w/Titanium Downpipe.
- ? ?

I still have way too much stuff left to purchase/order and/or decide on, that seeing a light at the end of the tunnel isn't even considerable at this point.

Im a fan of your over-engineering. Whats the point of having one of these cars if you can't beat the shit out of it once in a while... and in your case it sounds like you won't have to worry about breaking any engine parts.

Allan74
12-11-2009, 09:30 AM
Oh trust me. I tried to convince myself to cheap out on shit many times just to get it done and if it wasn't for Mcfly constantly giving me shit, I would probably be doing my SECOND rebuild by now, rather than still collecting top shelf parts to do it right the first time.

In this case, I say everyone needs a 'build buddy'....lol......to keep calling them a 'little girl' and telling them to 'stop being a cheap -ass'.....lol

Yes, I am going to run an OEM modified Air box and quit sucking hot air up from under the hood.

12-14-2009, 06:18 AM
I support that decision, I picked up power and driveability going back to a stock airbox on my Evo VIII from an HKS Racing Suction Intake. Didn't sound as "cool", but I care more about results.

Interesting. I agree.

There's a dynochart floating around the internet showing the kw loss with podfilter on a dyno when bonnet / hood is closed and kw gains when open. I wish I could find it again. :(

Mines ran a stock R34GTR airbox with 600hp+ -

So does ths 600hp+ or so R34GTR -

My new Custom Intake Plenum is about to leave the builder's shop, so I had him send me some pics of it before it left, to tie me over until it got here.

I specifically asked the builder to leave it semi-finished and I would put the finishing touches on it once it arrived (clean up, drill out throttle cable hole, sand where needed, clean runners, casting marks, gasket match if needed... etc).

I also specified (as you will notice) that the TOP be 100% clean, as in, NO Vacuum lines, fittings etc. I am hidding everything underneath, as I had him put the holes there. I also had him install an IAT bung in the OEM location (by TB flange, will face block), which most other single TB plenums DO NOT have.

Because I am painting or powdercoating it, I also specified UNPOLISHED so that it did NOT GET SMOOTH.....as I wanted the rough/grainy finish when complted.

All I can say, is that I am very happy with the results. See for yourself:

No. Mold Cast tank and runner sections, welded together, with layout for accessories and TB flange as I chose.......a little bit custom, definately not 100%.

And what is a way to do it than working on an rb26. I'm not too worried about money as long as I'm doing something I enjoy..

What do you mean ?

mcfly
01-25-2010, 07:29 AM
the plenum to the head. As it sits right now you have throttle bodies in the way and 3 inch studs if you remove those

Allan74
01-25-2010, 07:48 AM
Remove the ITB's, then use shorter studs ?

Or are you wondering if I am going to gut the ITB's and stack everything for added low speed velocity ?

mcfly
01-25-2010, 08:00 AM
maybe those itb spacers on ebay

Allan74
01-25-2010, 08:35 AM
I'll see what it costs to get an entire 1 or 2" 'flange' done up, rather than 3 ITB replacement pieces, so I can port match everything easier to the manifold etc.

I am happy to report that the shitty flange weld was corrected (see page 2, looks like it was welded by a retard).

leak free?

From what I can tell so far. I will fill it up with water and see what happens, or seal it up and pump it full of compressed air/coloured smoke to see for sure, although nothing has given me any reason to think it requires it.

It looks pretty good though and I can not any signs of 'points of concern', thin spots or bad welds. Overall, it looks good and I consider it money well spent.

I am however going to 'clean it up' in terms of tru-ing the head flange, polishing the runners internally, as well as drilling out the mounting holes for whatever TB cable I choose to go with.....which was all part of the plan from the beginning, as well as finish it with 'eggshell' black paint and a few coats of clear for protection.....no powdercoat.

This thing is MORE THAN worth the $450 I spent on it .... and I would do it again in a heartbeat if I had to.

To all of the haters out there: Keep hatin' .... and wasting your money on $2000+ USD Plenums for no good reason.

Rapier46
01-28-2010, 04:14 PM
Why would someone hate? It's better than most you would buy. Bigger at least.

Allan74
01-28-2010, 04:14 PM
Oh, I forgot to add.....

Before I start polishing the runners internally, I am going to take it by one of my Client's shops and have them 'treat' the inside of it with a type of paint/sealant that they use for big Oil/Gas pipeline internals. Fill it up, dump it out and let dry. That's basically it. This will give the inside a nice finish and fill any imperfections in the aluminium, making it a little smoother inside.

Allan74
01-28-2010, 04:16 PM
Looks horny, but I'm failing to see these retard welds you speak of?

Because it's not a Jun, Hypertune or any other fancy 'Namebrand' ....and is essentially considered a knock-off.

Cast in China, assembled/welded in Thailand.
