I'm curious now after one of Allan's posts. If you could choose any color to respray your car what would it be?
Pictures are bonus points.

I have my paint already mixed and sitting on my shelf. Its a custom variant of cobalt blue mixed to be a little darker with massive amounts of pearl and metallic. I painted my valve covers with it but added comeleon for fun. I'm tired of them the way they are so I'm changing the valve covers when I repaint the car this spring

Like I said before......
The easy way ? RED, again.
The hard/expensive way ? White.

It seems like a good deal to deal with MWRacing for a paint job. Has anyone seen any results from his booth?

Martin is just too damn shady for my liking.....
He is one of those people that has a bad habit of simply dissapearing and not giving other people a second thought.

Oh wow. I didn't realize that, but I haven't paid much attention to him. I just read his post on paint jobs, saw the price and didn't go back. Now I know I guess
Has he screwed anyone over?

I noticed mwracing has not been on gtrc for a number of months though. Did his paiting deal fall through? That would work awesome for me as I do not require a show quality paint job. just respectable.
I like EV1 - lightning yellow

that picture made me think of ye'olde tweety.
I saw a car in person painted by martin. He was doing paint for what $1000 was he not? It honestly was pretty well done for the money. I mean around the trims it wasn't perfect but I wouldn't care if it was my car.
If I had to repaint mine, I'd probably end up with it black/gunmetal. I like this.

NEver repaint.
Looks so horrible unless the entire car is stripped and entire car is paired inside and out.
But if I did have an r34, I would have it done the same blue as the autostyle r34 gtr

I don't think repaints look bad. Most people that would spend the money to repaint a Skyline would take the time to do it right. For me I'm lucky that my brother is a painter so that makes it easy on me and my wallet. I have the patients to pull my whole car apart and sand everything very thoroughly. I have a good start on it already and after its comepletely painted you won't be able to tell it was redone.

but it really depends on what the car is built for... drift or track cars can get away with more punchy racey colors and decals. Street cars are nice in more chill colors like that nice Jade

Its just my personal preference, its just like a race car with chrome wheels or a stock street car with racing decals ...just does not work for me
Best wheel colour is black for racetrack or road use, as it hides the brake dust buildup.
In real life, I like the light blue colour for R32GTR (factory option colour) and black rims.
EV1 - lightning yellow for R34GTR is good looking colour in real life, but horrible to match properly if GTR is rear ended, which happened to someone I knew with the same colour on their R34GTR. It's was very hard to match to original colour (I think due to clearcoat). It always looked slightly a different colour compare to rest of car in factory colour. Factory use a hardcoat clearcoat (hard to chip and is toxic to spray and is why panelbeaters don't use it, but factory can due to robot arms spraying chassis), aftermarket use a different type of clearcoat.
If your going to repaint properly, remove windows, buy new window seals from Nissan or custom window seals, etc. Paint build up around windows and clearcoat not going under seals is what happens if you don't remove window seals. Also can solve any leak / rust problems around windows when window seals are removed. Leaks in windows can happen due to chassis twisting when going into driveways, then untwisting alot. Happens on the top corners of front, rear windows.
For raceprep, strip chassis, remove windows, acid dip, spot weld, reinforce chassis where it needs it (stut towers, etc), seal gaps between panels underneath. Then respray underneath chassis with paint only (no underseal that adds weight) and minimal layers of paint on top of chassis to reduce weight.
DrMango

When my car is repained this spring it will have all windows removed and the front panels+hood removed to do the job right. Its the only way to repaint a skyline for sure!
Kyle
I agree.
Proper paint job cost's alot due to buying new window seals from Nissan, stripping back to bare metal, removing dents, etc. Some good panelbeaters remove dents on metal, not cover them up with filler.
There's filler you can buy that goes black in low area's of paintjob, so can sort them out and make paint look glass smooth.
Some do all the prep work themselves, then get panelbeater to spray car. Saves alot of $$$.

I actually heard yellow was one of the hardest colors to paint.
Anyone know what it costs to acid dip?
Interesting.
Acid dip will eat the rust, etc and can leave big holes where rust was, if rust gone that far through panel. Then they should neutralize dip to remove acid and primer dip or spray chassis (Zinc coat chassis) to prevent it from rusting afterwards.
This thread below has info on what some have found out when using media blasting, acid dipping -
http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=592472&page=3
Each process has it's + and -.
On new cars that are converted to racecars, I noticed they acid dip. I had magazine article showing the start to finish raceprep of a BTCC style racecar from a stock car. Included reinforcing strut towers, etc.

We have quite the signature color that will be going on our three shop cars. Should make some purists squirm for sure. Also on a side note, we offer paint, bodywork, fitting bodykits/widebodys and so on as a specialty of ours . I'm sure we could work out a reasonable deal for GTRP members.

Gotta vote for Midnight Purple.
* LP2 - Midnight Purple

LP2 unless you burn $$ to keep warm in the winter. The color shifting stuff is beautiful, but a little too attention-grabbing for me.

Midnight metallic green for me when I get it done this spring. The new Ford mustang Bullit has a colour called highland green which is kinda nice, just not dark enough. I'm also partial to a pearl metallic bronze but it would have to be the perfect shade to work. Someone on "another forum" had a bronze one in their avatar that was dope !

i have a white gts and if i had to change the colour i would choose bayside blue, also i like black but there A LOT of black skyline...i love white skylines so i will stick to my colour
my Skyline is black as of now but is really worn out and weathered...I'd go with a Gun Metal grey or Flat Black, but done well no spray bombin'!
Pearl Metallic black for R32 looks shiny, even when car is wet or dirty or wax / clearcoat is lightly scratched.
Light blue (factory colour) for R32, Midnight purple for R33, R33 Lemans blue (with Nismo rims) are my other favourite colours.
R33 Lemans blue -

I wish my GTR was white. If it was, I would be the asshole with the clear-coated-carbon wing, trunk, hood, muffler guard, mirrors, grille etc.
I honestly CAN'T STAND when people leave raw-looking carbon fiber panels on their cars, EXCEPT for when it's White ;) ....then it's hawt.
Felix's 'Project Horny' ? .........I LOVE that car. Pretty much what I described above, white with carbon everything.
