Looking to do a battery relocation to the trunk, will be picking up a optima red top battery and will custom fabricate a metal box to mount it in..
but i wanted to ask a few questions first:
#1 where do people get the wiring kits for it?
#2 what size gauge wire is best to use for the positive? 0? 00? 1?
#3 should i fuse the wire 6 inches from the battery? and how many amp fuse is best to use?
#4 for the negative can i ground the main engine area negative to the chassis and then ground the battery terminal negative to the chassis at the rear? or is it just better to run another wire for the negative same as positive?
#4 do i need to run a battery cut-off switch? if so should i do it using a relay?
i really appreciate the help guys.
thanks,

I'm also wondering about these things.
Only thing don't put the battery in a metal box, its a bad idea. You can buy battery boxes on summit racing BTW.

Its fine as long as its vented as far as I know. If its an optima I don't know if it expells any gas anyways but I don't know crap about the rules

Im picking up 2 of the moroso sealed boxes for a skyline and FD relocation / grounding kit Im making up, either way I think they should be vented out side the trunk or cabin just to be safe. Strong plastic is a bit safer than a metal box too since its non-conductive.

if you relocate the battery to the rear does that mean you can move the ugly fuse panel out of the engine bay?

It might make it a bit less of a hassle, Ive never moved one (fuse box) but all the other wiring / extending / relocating of the fuse box would be the toughest part

That could be a pita to move the fuse box too but would look so clean. I know there has been a couple of people to move the fuse box inside the front fender, but thats a hard place to check fuses I think..

There is a lot more to it than that, though moving it to the inner fender is easy. But if you are running any reasonable sized tire/rim combo or you are on coils...you would have removed the fender liner by now. Which equals a completely exposed fusebox.
If I were to relocate anything I'd just go buy a painless kit and rid of all the 20 year old wiring and start fresh.
