Yes, no wastegate(s)......not internal, not external. A 900+ HP RB from Australia, that starts out as an article about an RB26 that 'sat collecting dust', then during reinforcement of the bottom end, magically turned into an RB30.......yes, your head will spin too.

I came across this article while searching for something completely unrelated and found a few points in it that shocked me, as well as made me laugh. It seems like kind of a joke in parts, as it's a completely transparent 'puff piece' for a local shop down under that reads like a complete insult to the intelligence of the average Skyline and/or RB enthusiat....but an entertaining read none the less.

something is wrong there. Why would the old looking gt42 just hit a wall at 2.1 bar. Am i missing something here?

Those stock blow off valves must have been letting pressure out.

Yah, that's exactly what they are doing. Controlling a pair of BOVs with the Motec ECU, to bleed off boost pressure rather than a wastegate setup.

Is this an ODD way to do it ? or is it common in some circles ? Any danger of overspun Turbo ?

Its a lot like pop off valves of f1 turbo days.
Its a stupid way of going about it with how well wastegates work.

it would force you to use management that can run a map sensor if you wanted to set your car up like this
