So I was at the autocross a month ago, and i was really losing power on the corners. BrianV8 was there and he notified me that i had one wheel spinning only as I was cornering, so did he. So we did a little bit of research and this is what we found:

http://datnet.org/TECH-ARTICLE-Tighten-r200-viscous-lsd-t530.html

It is a guide on how to "shim" your stock viscous LSD to give it more lock on the corners. The shims can be ordered from Nissan and they are only about 14 dollars... needless to say this is way cheaper than buying a new Limited Slip. Different thicknesses are available from Nissan. Thinner shims will result in less lock, but thick enough shims and apparently it feels like a 2 way almost.

Brian had this issue as well so we ordered the shims and I will update this with a review of our findings when they are in. I believe we went with a 1.6 mm shim.

I have also been told that an upgraded rear sway-bar will help keep more weight on the inside tire also aiding the situation, but I will try the under 20 dollar method first and see what we come up with.

i'm curious to see how well this works.
So cornering you are getting one tire fires but what about a brake stand?

i will check out the brakestand when i get an engine lol, but the forces on the car while cornering make that a totally different ball game. These viscous lsds are known to wear out like this.

yeah thats why i was interested
the gtst still does nice brake stands but I cannot comment on the corners

quick update, we put the shim into brian's dif... but there is no motor in his car right now, so as soon as we get that straightened out we will see how much it locks.

Shimmed diffhead.

From what I understand your supposed to change shims to thicker shims as the diffhead wears out and when diffhead is wornout, internals need to be replaced. Also the part I mentioned in first sentance should be in the R32 manual.

Most fit a mechanical LSD, but use this technique as a cheaper option.

I think the article orginally came from the D1NZ forums.
