Well my car is starting to look like my own so I thought I would start a project thread for it. I've owned it for about a year now and its been pretty good to me so far.
It's an 89' GTR.
The car came with a few bolt ons.
It came with:

HKS Intakes
HKS Intercooler pipes
HKS SSQV BOV
Apexi N1 Exhaust
Test pipe
A/M Downpipe....looks like Greddy or HKS.
Mod'd F pipe
Greddy Profec A Boost controller
A crazy ass nest of a ground kit
Bilstien shocks and Eibach springs
Nismo FUCA's
Tein TC Rods
APP Braided brake lines
Braided clutch line
ORC Twin Plate clutch
Some wheels that were too small and had 25mm spacers and they were still sunken lol.

Here are some pics of when I first got it.

Note the nest of wires/vacum lines. Also the melt spot on the shroud...wtf?

I bought the car when I was living in Calgary with a bunch of friends. I had no driveway/garage and very limited tools. I wasn't able to really dive into the car untill I got it back to Ontario when I moved back into my parents house for college. I parked the car pretty early and bought a cheap little winter beater.
Over the winter my focus was to clean up the car, mostly the engine bay. I just bargain shopped the maketplace for good deals on used stuff all winter and got a few killer deals.
Over the winter I added:

Apexi Intakes (after seeing that chart comparing intakes I ditched the HKS asap)
Samco Rad and Heater hoses
Bings Catch Can (yet to install)
AEM Wideband
Manual boost controller
R32 Nismo Turbo's (rebuilt April 09 with 360 thrust bearings)
Autobahn88 Intercooler & Piping kit
Apexi PFC L-Jetro
Replaced the nasty melted rad shroud

Here are the turbos after being rebuiilt

I put alot of elbow grease into the engine bay over the winter aswell. I replaced all the gaskets on the intake and exhaust parts.
I ported the exhaust manifolds to match the N1's.
I polished the charge pipes.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f276/sclewlow/IMG_1805.jpg

Painted the Valve Covers, plenum, and exhaust manifolds.

Here are some random pics from over the winter:

So the last thing I've done to the car is new rims and tires.
I bought a used set of Work CR-Kai's in 18 x 9.5 +12. For tires, I went with a set of Hankook Evo V12 265/35/18's.
And here is how the car sits now:

sweet ride man, i really like the way you cleaned up the engine bay. Looks so much better than when you got it. I like the rim colour against your paint as well.

Nice car! Love the paint.

How do you like the Autobahn88 intercooler? I am thinking of buying one. What made you go with the piping kit as well instead of sticking with your hks?

looks good, now get it to a dyno

Thanks guys !

The autobahn intercooler is pretty good for the price. I was expecting it to be a little smaller but its either 3 or 4" thick. The intercooler and piping which came with nice couplers and clamps was under $500. I didn't use all the piping that came with the kit though since I had some HKS peices and the pipe that goes from the intercooler to the plenum is 1 solid peice with my BOV mounted on it.

I'm hoping to get on a dyno soon ! Or atleast a night at the drag strip. :D

I installed a Nismo Solid Short Shifter yesterday.
I had a different unknown brand short shifter on there and it was leaking fluid from the transfer case so it had to go. It was way too stiff aswell I had to fight it to get it into gear.

The Nismo unit feels so much smoother and much less effort is needed to shift gears.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I did a compression check too.
Results were: 165-160-165-170-165-170

was the shifter expensive?

was the shifter expensive?

The Nismo was like $320 to my house including customs fee's from RHDJapan.
The one I replaced it with I got off a user on GTRC for $80 shipped.....I wish I just went with Nismo from the start.

I know the turbos arent spining over 1 bar, cause the inlet is carbon.do you know where i can find the inside materials to rebuild the turbow with stell,so i can run over ,1,5 bar

I agree.

Buy r34 n1 turbos or gt2860r's
The inlet wheels are aluminum on the stock turbos not carbon. The exhaust turbine is ceramic.

I like.

From memory they use stock Nissan Pulsar GTi-R turbo CHRA, wheels on rebuilt R32 GTR turbo's. I think SR20DET uses the same GT25 exhaust housing flange as R32 GTR. So might be able to modify SR20DET turbo's x 2 to fit on R32 GTR exhaust manifolds. Or use bored / machined out stock R32 GTR turbo housings with SR20DET turbo CHRA, wheels.

I think HKS mention GT25 for both GTR, SR20DET turbo's -

Buy r34 n1 turbos or gt2860r's

just for reference, are 2860s the Garrett equivalent to the R34 N1? and which is the HKS equivalent?

are you winter driving the car Shawn?

mcfly

gt25's are the same as r34 n1's
hks 2510 would be around same size as well.
