Well, I figure it's time to show everybody that I actually own a skyline (for now anyways). This is not really a project, but I am going to try and explain my story, and show some bad pictures. This is it:

In 2006 I started making money on a new level, and had lots to spare as I was living at home and paying nothing but a cell phone bill. I was driving to my buddies house when I saw this car on the side of the road with a for sale sign on it. At this point I had no knowledge of cars mechanically, but flush with cash I impulsively bought the car the next day (March 2007). I was told that the car was in great working order, the only reason it was being sold was to pay for school. I later found out that this car broke a timing belt the previous autumn and a brand new oem head was installed.

I had no idea what i was getting myself into with this car, but I loved it. The car came fairly stock, the mods at the time of purchase were:

-Trust Airinx Mushroom filter
-Cat Back exhaust of unknown origin
-Sard Boost gauge
-Sard Cat
-Blitz Turbo Timer
-Impul front bumper

The car came with the most bizarre oem nissan wheels I have ever seen on a skyline. I figure they are from a mid 90s Altima or something. I drove the car for the next year slowly adding mods until 2009 when I hit a snag. My mod list not including the ones above are:

-Generic side entry/exit FMIC (thanks mcfly)
-XS Turbo divorced dump pipe
-KYB Coilovers
-Adjustable Tie rods
-TEC GTR aftermarket front bumper
-Greddy Downpipe
-Yellowjacket Coil packs
-RB25 Turbo (series 1)
-GTR Injectors
-Walbro 255 Fuel pump
-AEM Wideband
-Sard FPR
-"Tuned" ECU
-Vibrant Pod filter
-SSR Type C-comp Wheels (17 x 8.5 / 17x9.5 +35)
-Falken Azenis RT 615 rear tires (245 45 r17)
-Continental conti-sport front tires (224 45 r17)
-Synapse Synchronic BOV
-Mishimoto Aluminum Rad with electric fan setup

Shortly after the turbo and injector job was done this happened:

We pulled this out of my cat after we pulled the engine. Compression numbers were non-existent on 2 cylinders... I believe running with lean conditions on a temporary "tune" (I'm sure McFly has something to add on this subject) caused a chunk of piston to make its way out an exhaust valve and shear off my whole exhaust turbine causing my car to run like ass as you might imagine.

So I did my first engine swap in the driveway... It was a learning experience but at least the car runs now. This is the new engine sitting in the bay:

Now I am at a crossroads, because I feel like I have taken this car as far as it wants to go... I need a new project, and will probably sell this thing as fast as possible come spring time. The only thing is, I might get back behind the wheel and start loving this car again.

Brianv8 "tuned" the engine you mean

I forgot you had this thing haha.

Well for someone that knew nothing mechanically in 2006, you seem to have come a long way. Thats too bad how much bad luck you have had but if your confident in the new engine and tune(?) then just keep it and enjoy it. The new setup should hold up as long as you don't have a goof ball tune it again lol

Ya, but the new engine isn't in the greatest shape either. I want to get a GTR or something else... I love the rb engines still, so my ultimate goal is to have an rb powered 240Z. But I might be in the market for a toyota aristo right now for daily driver purposes. I love my skyline, but I think its gotta go.

Side note, do you think the previous owners broken timing belt could have caused piston damage? Apparently the timing belt broke at well over 200 km an hour and they didn't say anything about the bottom end. oh well...

Im not expert but I would say its possible if the valves hit the pistons. Sometimes you just know when its time to sell a car. Go with your gut
