Oh, hello. Didn't see u there.
This is the thread for my GTR. I do all the work myself. Except the tunic. Because I haven't done that yet. I live just outside Calgary AB. My only gtr friend has moved away.
But there's a million people in Calgary, I may be able to find another gtr friend.

Last Dyno Update: Never had it dyno'd.
So my gtr started out as any other. Then came to Canada and destroyed an engine because AutoDream sucks at tuning. Then it got bought by some dipshit dumbshits in coalhurst AB(4xToys, they are retarded when it comes to gtr's, who knows what else). They put in a new engine. This is where I bought it. I drove it home (350km). Then around like normal for a few weeks(adding 250km). Then the engine blew! That's #2.. It took me 3 months to put 600 km on it. Because shit kept fucking up. At 100 km intervals. Wether it was coolant pissing, or turbos pissing or things coming off because 4xToys left out all the bolts that were hard to get at. Bunch of idiots. Anyway.
So I bought a stock engine from jdmsource, did the swap myself, and put 3500 km on it in a month. I do sexy work, baby.
I had left the engine entirely stock when I put it in, as to not void the warranty. So then after I felt it was fully broken in and cleaned out, I started putting on some parts.
Started with:
rsr solid, equal length down pipe. Beefy.
Tomei dump pipes
R33 n1 turbos
Greddy suction kit
HKS intercooler piping
Splitfire coilpacks
No cat
Brake master cylinder stopper(was always on actually)
Full 3 inch exhaust. Straight pipe.
But I keep the stock catback on usually, unless im out for a cruise or to deafen Honda owners.
Heres some pics...

You listed on mod I would never do again for a frequently driven street car. Straight pipe exhaust. I ran that for one year and was always worried about cops as the rb26 is still very noisy. This was ages ago though and on stock ceramics, possibly quieter on your n1's.
So 4x toys bought it from you, and you bought it back from them?

Haa ya it's so loud.
I bought the car from 4x toys. That's it. They do crap work and gave me a crap tune ecu, which had way advanced timing. Also they cut revlimiter. So that didn't work well.

Probbaly has something to do with the winter blues. havent driven it....especially with the new parts. and im like..ugh i want something. but no matter what i get i cant drive it for a while anyway. i wont end up selling it.. but if somehow i do, itll be for a subaru, rx7, another silvia(ive had 2), or a house.
And i have that rb26 in my garage ready for rebuild...so that might go in whatever i buy, if i do indeed sell.

01-20-2010, 07:23 PM
hahah thanks alot man.
We'll see what happens with it.
but i just got a new plan for it...
1. Right now, i have a blown rb in my garage(rod knock)
2. I thought of a sexual idea.
3. I bought this engine and put it in....this idd not occur to me until 15 mins ago.
4. POSSIBLE PLAN: The engine in my GTR now: Keep it relatively stock. Remove upgrades i have installed up to now. take my OTHER engine by the BALLS and start building it. im thinking:
T51R
HKS 2.8L stroker kit
That is just an idea for now.
OR i but a white GTR and do this to it. because i adore white GTRs so much.
4.
I'll tell you what.
We trade cars. Your GTR. My white GTS-t. You like white, I like the wine red.
Then you transplant that RB26 into the GTS-t. Mad sleeper? I think so. Mad tight? Hells yes. Everyone wins? Better believe it.

it appears the rod cap has seen quite a bit of heat. I would consider a cheap aftermarket rod or replacing 5/6 as they appears to have seen the brunt of this.

02-01-2010, 09:10 AM
a stroker kit is a ton. just keep it simple. cp pistons, carrillo rods, arp hardware, balance and polish the crank also have the block cleaned, honed, line honed and decked. Then for the head you can do a full PNP with full valvetrain. You don't always have to buy HKS this and that. There are alot of american companies that make good parts for japanese cars.
Zacho
02-01-2010, 09:39 PM
I think the idea of putting in an almost stock engine for the time being is a good idea. It seems lots of people loose interest when they can't even drive/use the car at all so it just sits.
Rapier46
02-07-2010, 12:02 PM
Well I want it to run strong. Be able to handle whatever I can throw at it. So I need to know:
what are these parts good for hp wise:
stock pistons
stock rods
stock headgasket
And if I go with that combo, what rod bearings and main bearingS should I go with?
I need to know what I should but for:
rod bolts
rod bearings
main bearings
oil pump
head studs
Allan chime in, :). I'd like cheaper, but they need to be able to handle good power. Like 600 MAX. More along the lines of 450-500 whp

nate you have no idea, i havent showered for like 5 days.
anyway.
m13 my plans are undecided, that other engine was knocking im sure you knew. so i tore it apart to fix it all up.
was gonna build it for high hp. but i think im gonna go with more oem stuff than aftermarket. so it will still hold like 500 whp no problem.
Yes I knew it was knocking, but was wondering if you were going to make it a nice forged 26 or a good reliable OEM spec 26.
I am pretty envious of that garage however.
Carrying on from the other thread, a stud is better than a bolt of same metal grade as a bolt head can twist and stretch (I watched a slow-motion video somewhere) under load, and actually fails at the head. Studs resists this and fails at a higher load in the middle. (rarely happens if the right grade is used for the right application)
Stud>bolt.

Probably mostly oem parts. But it will hold solid hp.

Honestly, ghetto-piping brake ducting don't work too well and look hideous. Have you thought about panel ducting to channel the air like Porsches do? A lot cleaner and work better (rather than limited to the cross-sectional area of the hoses/collecting grime/shit/rats/dirt/oil, etc.)

Hi, My name is Nguyen, I own AutoDream and I was the one that install an and tuned an Autronic SM4 into that car, The customer drove that car perfectly fine for a long time without any problem. He bump into a guy name fidel, that was working with Vex performance from Reddeer that had promise to retune the car and it will make a lot more power. after a long time of the car being there, the customer called me and ask if I would retune his car if he tows it back to Calgary. I told him yeah, I don't have any reason to be mad at him for bringing his car to another shop hopping to make it better. so a few weeks later the car came on a flat bed, not idling very well, rod knock like crazy. so we went to diagnose the cause, what we found was, there was more gas in the oil than oil itself. We told him there is nothing we can do to help him when the engine was damage. he towed the car home and started to part it out, so he can pay off the loan that he had on the car. What do you think we could of done better for this car? by the way the customer that used to own this car, his name is Austin.
