Gotta love Mr. Gasket..... http://www.mr-gasket.com/

..and their new Shawdow Series AN Fittings.
http://www.mrgasket.com/primages/74422G.pdf

I just ordered all my fitings to plumb the fuel system under the hood, as well as new black pipe/an adapters for my Fuel rail that I am painting black.

http://www.gtrpwrgtrpwrgtrpwrgtrpwrgtrpwrgtrpwrgtrpwr.com/downloads/pics/shadow.jpg

These are the sexiest fittings I have been able to find (for what I want, Z-Tune BLACK theme)......and they are fucking affordable.

I am just trying to see if the seller can order me more, as he didn't list the entire line on Ebay and I am short a couple (unseen mind you, but I want them all the same).....

Hope this help people out there not looking to give up a kidney for Aeromotive etc.

Oh God...

Titan Motorsports carries them, for not much more than I paid.

Sweet. I can finish in style....lol

Well, damn Aeromotive just got their $60+ USD out of me.....

I just couldn't bring myself to T-ing off the fuel feed for the ends of the Rail. It's Y or nothing......lol

Single 10an feed from the trunk, to twin 8's to the rail.

For my next turbo install I wont be paying some ass clown to rape me for fittings. Ill go this route and do it myself. Thanks for the links, I would have been lost trying to find a trustworthy co to buy from

Those y fittings are a must. tee's are such a terrible flowing unit. Good buy.

I would like to find affordable stainless fittings or nickle plated. Anything but aluminum.

Oh shit.....is Alum that bad ?

mcfly

no, but methanol attacks aluminum oxide and will eat fittings and rails. With anodized aluminum you would be fine if the threads did not loose coating when you tighten them.

Im thinking ahead possibly.

I should also add, as stupid as it sounds.....

I have decided to re-plumb the car with only 8an/6an fuel/return lines.

That's still an upgrade over stock.

I should have gone 10feed/8return.....but I have to draw the line somewhere and be realistic about it.

.....and 10an fuel line is expensive shit.....lol, so screw it.

I changed my order on the Aeromotive Y to 8/8/8 rather than 10/8/8 fitting ends.

I find it crazy aeromotive or whatever has black fittings and charges like $3 more /per just because...

Has anyone used JIC fittings from a local hydro shop? I used the corresponding -10 ones for my breather line from the valve cover to intake. They were like $10 for the male and female pair, but gold ish.

From my understanding AN should be used where it matters. JIC isn't as precise/tighter clearances and can be used in some applications on our cars.

Thoughts?

army navy thread, the name says it all :p
just match the hose to the fittings and you are set.

If I were to do it again I would have used the dirt sheap SS JIC fittings...

Even for like 6 fittings, a few adapters and some line I was at $350

It's now tool time.....

I am seeing conflicting info in regards to assembly tools etc. In particular, what type/material of Vice Jaws to use (alum vs steel) and of course, depending on the material of fitting.

Anyone have a line on a set of DECENT wrenches and Vice head/block/caps ?

The only way you can do lines without breaking them or having problems is use a dremel to cut the line and have a proper AN tool. Made from the same alum that the fittings are made from...

See....that's EXACTLY the conflicting Info I was talking about.

Earls says DO NOT use Aluminium on Aluminium (vice heads).....use Steel (in their Youtube Demo Vids)...

...and everyone else says use it the same way you just did.

Crazy shit.

I bought two AN wrenches (the ones they sell, they are blue and made by aeroquip or earls). Cut the line with a dremel with electrical tape wrapped around where you`re cuttin. Leave the tape on and put some oil on the fitting. PUSH PUSH and PUSH some more until you get the line in the fitting. Then have a friend push on the hose into the fitting as you tighten it.

Another way would be to use a vice to hold it (wrap electric tape around the fitting so you dont chew it up) and do it by yourself.

So it's cool leaving a little bit of the tape on ?

I might have to anyways, because I will be using Nylon Black Braided lines and that shit will fray and separate like crazy, whereas the steel stuff atleast is stiffer......

Summit racing has crap loads of them for pretty good prices ... and they carry mr gasket aswell if your still looking for more, when I finish off the fuel system Im going to grab all the fittings and hose at the same time from summit .... hopefully I wont forget anything

All of my lines have tape on them. But you can`t see it it`s jammed in the fitting.

I paid a local rip off shop to install my turbo and they charged me something like $1000 to do the lines, parts and labour. I had the turbo loose bolted in when I dropped the car off on a flat bed. Most of the money was parts

Jegs.com is also a good site. I find it is easier to navigate and the pricing is a bit better. If I didn't live by MOPAC I would use them. Fortunately I get a great discount and they are 5 mins away from me :D..

wow... oil and water lines?

That's nuts. Maybe like 100$ max in parts. The rest is just time. I hope they at least did a good job?

DrMango

They didnt do a good job, but thats the reason I decided from then on it was my job to work on my own car. It was a bad experience every time I picked up my car from there. I think thats the time I was even told that he felt guilty and even took some hours off so the bill wasn't as big as it should have been...
In 2 spots the braided lines are directly touching the exaust manifold and the dump pipe.

I've posted about these guys before, but I'll mention them again...

http://www.batinc.net/mocal.htm

They are a small business in Florida that deals in Mocal hose fittings along with lots of other stuff. Their site has a bunch of good information, as well as the tools necessary to put these hose assemblies together. Their hose end fittings are BLACK and NICKEL instead of red and blue, which is much more attractive in my opinion. I've ordered from them a number of times and have been very satisfied with the service and the products.

Check out the Push On Hose End Fittings (http://www.batinc.net/mocal.htm). These are MUCH easier to assemble than the traditional screw on hose ends and will hold plenty of pressure for fuel an oil applications. If you go to the bottom of the linked page above, there are assembly instructions and pictures of the finished product with black hose, it really looks slick. I'm actually doing a complete fuel system on a Galant VR4 using these exact fittings and hose. I'll post pictures of the finished product.

I've always had my eye on the push lock fittings but somethign about it just rubs me the wrong way. The extra 10 mins it takes to make a regular line is worth it for me for peace of mind. Especially when the life of my engine relies on it.

Wow, they have fantastic pricing on Mocal oil coolers. I will be buying some from them for sure! Thanks...

I have to be perfectly honest with you Aaron... I have more faith in a push-loc hose end holding 90psi of oil pressure than I have in an ARP rod bolt holding up to 10000RPM of tensile load.

I thought JEGS was USA only?? I can't recall 100% though, they have so much good stuff. Mopac in Edmonton is rough...They wanted $98 for a 2.5 inch elbow, which I later got up the street for $60.

I wish I saw that site earlier...I got raped for all of my fittings.
