I need everyone to branch out into the Canadian Skyline market and help me find similar examples of gtr's to present to my insurance company. Please help me out in finding these well built gtr's and post the links here.
Thanks everyone. The more expensive the better.

The car landed about a month ago. It landed in a non running condition so I took it to RCTS to have them getting it running and tuned up for this season. I did have the car dyno tuned, but the coilpacks were toast. I've since replaced them with brand new oem ones and have been instructed to wait for warmer weather to retune and try for higher numbers.
-Just passed an out of province inspection.
Only things I have changed so far is add the HKS AFK as the car is already using HKS Vpro. I also swapped in new coilpacks. I'll have a complete mod list when I get the rest of my build list translated.
Under the hood (with more to come):
Trust T-78 turbo kit
2.8 stroker w/Nismo Rod and bearing set
Exhaust Wrap
Nismo oil Pump

5-speed manual
AWD
98000 KM's
Mods:
Rebuilt engine with N1 oil/water pumps and forged internals
Steel Wheel turbos
OS Giken twin plate cltch
OS Giken lightweight flywheel
Yellow Jacket coilpacks
Greddy downpipe
Gutted Cat
Apex'i GT-Spec 4" Exhaust

Tein front tension rods
New fuel pump
JVC MP3/iPod Head Unit
SSR Professor SP1 17x9.5 Wheels
New Sumitomo HTRZ-II Tires
Mine's Tuned ECU
Car pulls strong and hard, boost restrictor is removed so it makes 1 bar of boost. All fluids in the car were recently changed, with royal purple synthetic gear lube in the front and rear differentials, new nissan ATF in the transfer case, redline shockproof heavy duty synthetic in the transmission, Castrol Syntec 0w30 engine oil, and Napa Gold (WIX) oil filter. The front fender badges were stolen and there are some scratch marks where they were pulled off. The wheels have some curb damage, but would be easy for Wheel Works or any other shop in town to clean up and refinish for fairly cheap. Car has been well taken care of, and I am the first owner in Canada. I purchased the car from 4kruzn imports in April, 2007.

hey Mr, is it listed anywhere?
Mr666
12-07-2010, 02:50 AM
Sorry, No. I was about to put it up when I spun a rod bearing on my new engine, so it's sitting until I spend another $5,000 on it to re do it in the spring. What is the big deal with needing it posted ? ICBC doesn't need to use only posted adds to value things. The adjusters have the authority to value it themselves, mine did. You just need to have a nice normal guy as your adjuster. With ICBC out to screw everyone across the board, You can expect them to stick it to everyone evenly. I know I ended up paying when mine was damaged with a break in. If it will help I could post it knowing it wont sell in it's present condition, but you could use it as an example non the less. If you have the bills for the mods and parts then they also can use them to add value. Shit ! you should see the stack of bill I have for mine on top of the cost of the car. I need a wagon just to move them all. Owning a GT-R is like owning a BOAT or a Ford.

Not to diss your truck , , , but anyone who's owned as many vehicles as I have (between 30 and 40), can over a life time, can tell which vehicle manufactures are better and which are worse and the exactly how and why's. My buddy just had his 09' F150 in for a trani rebuild and it has 71,000 km of very light driving. Over $4,000 bill. The truck in my mind is still new ! And this problem is all to common. For you, I'm happy you got a good one and I hope you get many more good years from it with little cash out lay. It's sad to say but now a days the cars that sell for 40 or 60 or $70,000 are not engineered to last but to rather do like the Jag's , Nickle and dime the owners for repairs on parts that should last hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of kilometers and last only in the tens of thousands kilometers. This servicing is the real way the car companies make their money. Example, my wifes PT Cruiser is on it's third set of engine mounts (upper, lower, trani) and it only has 172,000km, with countless bearings and arms and on goes the list. Chyslers are also shit, I just said Fords cause i've had so many of them over the years, dozens of them.

I disagree, Mercedes as an example is good for this. Between 1996-2003 they had a time of terrible unreliably and cost cutting. manufactures can go through cycles of good and bad.
The year and model make a huge difference.

Theres this one: http://www.rightdrive.ca/inventory_cars/view/194
There are a bunch more in their inventory section and since it is a dealer it should carry some weight in the eyes of the insurance company.
Are you looking for heavily modified only or just high value?

either or. it's written off anyways now.

Part out? No room I guess. Keeping the wheels though I bet. ;p
That blows, did they tow it? I always pull my battery for the winter to make that shit harder to do.
All you need to do is to come up with 5 comparable ads to what you have and that's what they will pay out. 5 ads from a business is a shoe-in, they won't even argue especially when they see the cond. of the car and how many K's are on it.
I got $3500 more for a car because of it's rarity and low K's, you just have to push the issue. I went from $21,000 to $24,500 plus the taxes. That was $2000 more than what I paid for it when it was new.

I have over 30K into mine and it's not even running yet.
How was it written off? Someone woods er?
mcfly
01-05-2011, 11:03 AM
I supplied 5 ads for comparison and they told me to suck it.
I would urge everyone to get an appraisal done or change your policy to cover added value. I got screwed over because they will only cover me for a stock car and with prices as they are on auto trader...
I have no space or time for a part out nor do I want to deal with it. I am getting rid of it all.

Yeah I am insured with them as well. When I made an anonymous call to discuss modifications and insurance rates I almost shit my pants on the phone.
So since its written off will it appear at auction or what? This is a bummer :( If anything yank out the stack/engine/wheels to make a microscopic bit of money back.

I hate it when people are so secretive about their money. It's just money....and it's fairly small beans, really. If you told people that they only gave you $6500 for your write off (just guessing) it might motivate more people to get theirs appraised... JS
bobbo
01-13-2011, 08:52 AM
You have to get these things appraised if you either want to use specialty car insurance (SO much cheaper) and if you want even 1/2 of your money back. Mine was appraised for $19,000 which I don't have to insure it for but it really didn't make much difference to my premium.
Sorry for your loss McFly. The worst part is you have probably paid more for insurance than what they are going to pay you for the car.

ever so slowly I will sell off all of the parts I have and the car too.
I am happy to have sold the rrr block when I did as that lessens the blow to my bottom line:p
Anyone want a bottom end/long block?
Darton Sleeved, Jun pump, r34 crank, acls, Carrillo H Beam Unlimiteds with Carr bolts, Cosworth/Jun pistons. Has 3400 KM. I can even supply the parts to finish the head. JUN 2R kit(ti retainers, springs, cam gears, 288/11.35 lift cams), Tomei gaskets, tomei cam cap studs.
I also have in the car - greddy oil cooler, nismo 1.5 front diff, nismo 2 way rear diff, stack 8130, grid ts dancer, greddy profec type s, os giken R4C, bunch of adjustable suspension components. might make a good parts car for someone.
I would entertain offers

Are you going to return to a RHD car or are you going to move back to the LHD. l Think if I had something as crushing as this happen to me I'd just go get an R35 and say F#### the hassles and grief the establishment gives us.
