I will make this short and sweet.....
Does the average RB26 wet sump motor benefit from the installation of a Crank Scraper ?
I was just in touch with crank-scrapers.com and was quoted about $125 USD shipped to my door for a crank scraper for my RB26.
($95 crank scraper + $29 shipping).
Am I about to waste $125 USD ?

I really dont know how much you would benefit from this but again there is similar like this stock for the cams so might be worth it.
Im working on some different oil pans at the moment and might have something you can use.

Might be worth while if you're on a track much. I know some guys are overfilling crankcases to prevent oil starvation. If your doing this the scraper will help prevent frictional losses from the added oil splashing in the sump... maybe?

This is a dangerous practice, since the crank beating the oil can cause the oil to become aerated. Oil with air bubbles in it doesn't protect too well... :cool:

I would have believed the same thing and I wouldn't disagree with you. However there was a thread on here and several have stated that it is a common practice to overfill by as much as 1.5 litres to prevent oil starvation for track days.

I'm with SuperHatch on this, you'll get bubbly oil if your pump is mixing it like whipping cream.
I'm just not sure what's the actual amount of overfill on an RB before you get to that point. You usually can go about 3/4" to 1" on the dipstick and still be in the "safe" zone on conventional cars.

Thats what I was thinking. Not to mention once the engine is running, the oil level in the pan drops since there is a volume of oil in all the oil galleys, the head, turbo lines, and oil cooler lines, which can add up to quite a lot.

the crank in a rb is tucked up quite high and being such a short stroke it does not protrude down in to the pan much. 1.5 liters is still safe

in a stock RB26 you can go all the way to the bent bit/squiggle in the dipstick. Not sure how much extra oil that is but probably quite a lot.
I overfilled by a litre every time.

Do you use that on the track/autoX? Just wondering if you've ever had any smoking or excessive oil passing through the PCV ect.

yep, everywhere. ESPECIALLY at the track.
Never had an issue with smoke aside from when I kept killing turbo oil seals from too much boost.
