Okay, I narrowed down my intermittent stutters and limp mode to my maf on the front turbo. However, when taking things apart, i noticed alot of oil in the intake before and after the maf.. first impression is obviously blowby, as my turbos are like new (10000 km on them, i bought them new). So rather than the maf being fried, im assuming that it's the oil in the piping causing it to go haywire. I know some blowby must be expected, hence why ill invest in a catch can, but from the looks of it, the pcv goes from the valve cover to the rear turbo intake.. However theres also the pipe that seems to connect the two intakes after the mafs.. What is this pipe for?
Is it normal that the front turbo intake pipe would be more oily than the rear?
+ causes for excessve amounts of oil?
I just had my motor overhauled approx 15000km ago, seems strange that rings would already be sealing improperly. the car has been running pretty rich, but I dont think it was rich enough to wash the cylinders and cause ring sealing problems.. thoughts?

also... from what i understand, blowby would make me see oil in intercooler piping.. what about blowing the gasses back toward mafs?

if you have the recirc bov's still then when they shoot off you get a reversal of air up and out of the maf. The pipe that connects both intakes after the maf is the recirc tubing for the bov's.

Blow by is not uncommon and doesnt signify a problem on an rb26. They move so much oil that it's just something that happens unfortunately. Of course there is a fine line between bad engine and blow by though. Do a compression test see if all the cylinders are healthy.

Ok.. i understand whats going on with the mafs. so essentially, this reversal of air would carry the blowby gasses toward & thru the mafs.. Makes sense.
But I'm worried because theres a substantial amount of oil in the front intake piping.. which should be indicative of large amounts of blowby gas, no? as.. too much? lol

ok.. slightly confused.. so is this oil coming from the recirc from the bovs? so in turn the intercooler piping?!

the crank case gases(blow by) enter the rear turbo through that small tube. They are then pumped back into the engine which in turn passes through the intercooler + BOV's. When the bov's vent back into the intake piping this is where the oil gets into there.

The bov's push air back up the intake tubes when they vent at full boost which also gets shit all over the mafs.

How much is large? do you have a photo and does the engine smoke at all. what turbos did you put on the car and did you use new oil lines?

Large as in the inside of my apexi power intake for the front turbo is pretty much black on the inside, and if you wiped the inside of the rubber tube after the maf, youd have pretty decent amount of wet oil on your finger. the engine does not smoke. I am running twin GT2860r-5's, and my mechanic (haig from autoworx in montreal) modded the return lines. will grab a pic when i can.
