RB25 Damper on RB26?
When I began my build, I planned to keep my power steering on my RB26, but I swapped to an RB25 pump to clean up the HICAS lines from my 26 pump. Along with the RB25 pump, I purchased an RB25 Ross Tuffbond Metal Jacket damper. I have decided to depower my rack and have no need for the pump. Is there any reason to buy a damper for the RB26 or can I still use the RB25 unit?
The specs on the Ross RB25 unit are similar to the specs on the ATI strip piece...
The swap is into an S13 if that matters.

I would talk to RAW brokerage about this as they are a retailer of Ross Tuffbond.

I think McFly had posted up a side by side picture of RB20-RB25-RB26 OEM balancers to compare sizing.
I cannot find it now though...

That's where I got it...I can't see why it wouldn't work since all I changed is the pump. I'll email them and see.

Thanks lol I guess thats why I couldnt find that link..

From what I recall they are all slightly different in belt spacing, but they will fit on the crank of any RB, since you are getting rid of the P/S and A/C that just leaves the water pump. You could shim the W/P pulley or have a custom P/S pulley made with the proper spacing
I would just sell the RB25 crank pulley and get a RB26 to keep things simple

I believe the water pump is standard on all rb pulleys.

Indeed it is as far as I was told when buying a new one

Looking at those pics again, looks like the water pump belt is the only one that lines up
give it a try

That would be an easy way to go, but if I depower the rack and hate it, I can always put my pump back on and swap racks if I keep the RB25 damper.
If I sell it all, I may be stuck down the road with a used RB26 balancer and still wanting my RB25 set-up back.

never really studied other RBs, but aren't the alternater/bracket and water pump RB universal? If so, that would mean all the grooves should be the same on the pulleys...

My car isnt near by so I cant go take a look, but the outside groove is really the only one that doesnt seem to line up between the RB25-26. Which is the outside groove for?

here's what I got from Ricky at Raw Brokerage:
Hey Patrick,
You may still use the RB25 balancer with your setup. In your case, the differences in the balancers are based off the power steering pump offset and pulley.
Let me know if I can assist with anything else.
Thanks,
