This Gizzmo K mon knock detection setup is said to be as good as factory knock detection setup (knock board) on stock BNR32 ECU, as one tuner says stock BNR32 ECU switches over to knock maps at same time as Gizzmo K mon detects knock -

Maybe a worthwhile investment for professional tuners or enthusiast's tuning their own cars???

do you build it yourself?

no a friend made it and works with an extra knock sensor.the little box has 3 leds the one for power the yellow for normal condition and the red for knock.i can find the shematic and provide it tou the club

ya, if you could post a schematic in the diy section that would be very cool. I detonated a motor this summer due to lean conditions in my tune... something like this may have been useful

Interesting.

I think that idea is worth the $20.

From what I understand this $20 setup feeds off the stock ECM, stock knock sensor. Also this $20 setup seems to detect knock, how much knock (I presume it does similar signal processing as ECU knock board) and report via light's before knock board on stock ECU finishes processing the signal from knock sensor and reports knock on laptop.

This $20 setup essentially does a similar job to Gizzmo K mon (except no graphs, no twin knock sensors, etc) for less $$$. Also can be used during competition use to warn you that engine is knocking, as it seems to be permantly installed in car.

This $20 setup seems similar to a shift light.

yes it is a good setup .i use a sensor from another car as i dont want to mess the signal of the car sensor to ecu.

does the car you took this sensor from have the same bore size?

In my experience a sensor may or may not always pick it up. With det cans you can actually hear what it going on. Not what the sensor decides to let you hear. You can use a bosch knock sensor off an old VW and use a potentiometer in conjunction with it to adjust for bore size. However this can be hit or miss.

Check my DIY post for det-cans...I think its very cost effective and great when you are on the dyno with a loud car.
